The intravenous outlet tube is held firmly while the vented spike is inserted.
The outlet tube is fully seated on the spike when the tube reaches the spike ledge.
The three way metering valve is on the other end of the multiadd set.
The valve cover is removed from the three way valve.
The LuerLok cover of the syringe is removed.
