Remove the needle cover.

Wipe the rubber septum on the intravenous solution bag and align the needle for the center of the rubber septum.

Be sure the needle does not go through the side of the plastic inlet tube.

After the drug solution is injected into the intravenous solution bag, integrity test the filter. Small pore size hydrophilic filters are wetted by aqueous solutions. The surface tension of the solution and the wetting of the filter, hold some product in the filter pores. Pulling back on the plunger creates a vacuum in the syringe for an integral filter. Releasing the plunger will allow the plunger to snap back into the barrel of the syringe, showing a good filter.
