Chemotherapeutic Drug Preparation
Sterile water is withdrawn from a vial for the reconstitution.
Air is eliminated and the volume adjusted.
The cover from the female LuerLok of the dispensing pin is removed.
The needle is removed from the syringe and will be attached to the dispensing pin.
The syringe containing the water is attached.
The water is added to the chemo vial to reconstitute the drug.
The vial is held higher than the syringe for solution withdrawl. The filter is kept on top so it is not wetted and will relieve positive and negative pressures in the system.
