Gowning Continued - Mask

The surgical mask is held by the strings.
The wire band is the top and often the inside of the mask is marked.
Place the top inside of the mask over the bridge of the nose.

The top strings are tied tightly in a bow at the crown of the skull.
Tying the mask in this manner keeps it from falling off the nose later.

The lower edge of the mask is pulled down gently to help unfold it
and lower the mask away from the eyes.

The bottom strings are tied in a bow knot, but more loosely.

The looser bottom of the mask allows for easier breathing and
directing expired air away from the work area.

After masking, the back of the head should look like this.
